Medical Education

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is still the #1 global cause of death annually.Although many people develop one or more chronic conditions with many symptoms that require lifelong managed care, CVD is still considered preventable. At this time, physicians must consider other diverse perspectives on the anatomical, pathophysiological and psycho-emotional causes of CVD across medical systems. This will help health practitioners re-evaluate patient risk factors, make better determinations towards treatment, make better predictions for future prognosis and help patients advocate for a better life.

Our educational department was established in 2012 as a research center. In 2014 Integrative Cardiovascular Chinese Medicine (ICCM) educational program was first established and adapted from Dr. Anika Niambi Al-Shura’s doctoral dissertation. Our program is a formal study that involves principles of cardiology through integrative medicine. Our program curriculum presents pathology and health outcomes according to the basic sciences, theories and practices amongst western medicine and eastern medicine. Program courses include topics in anatomy and physiology; examination and diagnosis; treatment principles and patient management; and remedies, prescriptions and strategies. Courses are taught with a simple learning format on our online LMS platform. Each course uses its own medical peer-reviewed textbook, published through Elsevier Academic Press (AP) and authored by Dr. Anika. All textbooks are required for each course and are available for purchase at nearly all major online bookstores around the world.
